Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern the relationship between Renova Home Improvement Services Ltd and clients who engage our services. By accepting a quote or engaging our services, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.
1. About Us
Renova Home Improvement Services Ltd ("Renova Builds", "we", "us", "our") is a home renovation and improvement company registered in England and Wales, operating from Uxbridge, Greater London. We provide renovation, repair, and home improvement services to residential clients across West London and surrounding areas.
2. Our Services
We provide home renovation and improvement services including but not limited to kitchen fitting, bathroom renovation, roof repairs, painting and decorating, plastering, flooring, carpentry and joinery, handyman services, garden and exterior work, and removals and clearances.
The specific scope of work for each project is set out in the written proposal or quote we provide to you. Only the services described in the accepted proposal form part of our agreement with you.
3. Quotes & Pricing
All quotes are provided in writing and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. A quote is not a binding contract until accepted in writing by you and confirmed by us.
- Quotes are based on the information available at the time of survey. Where hidden defects, structural issues, or unforeseen complications arise during works, we will notify you promptly and provide a revised cost estimate before proceeding
- Any variation to the agreed scope of works must be agreed in writing by both parties before additional work commences
- Our quotes include VAT at the prevailing rate unless explicitly stated otherwise
- Materials specified in the quote are subject to availability. Where a specified material is unavailable, we will offer an equivalent alternative for your approval
4. Payment Terms
Payment terms are set out in your individual quote and contract. Our standard payment structure is as follows:
- Deposit: A deposit (typically 25–30% of the total project value) is required before work commences to cover initial materials and scheduling
- Stage payments: For larger projects, stage payments may be required at agreed milestones as set out in the contract
- Final payment: The balance is due on practical completion of the works and before the final walkthrough sign-off
Invoices are payable within 7 days of issue unless otherwise agreed. Late payments may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998. We reserve the right to suspend work on projects where invoices remain unpaid beyond their due date.
5. Your Obligations
To enable us to carry out the works effectively, you agree to:
- Provide safe and reasonable access to the property at the agreed times
- Ensure the property is free from hazards that may affect our team's safety
- Inform us of any known asbestos, damp, structural issues, or other hazards before work begins
- Obtain any necessary planning permissions, building regulations approvals, or landlord/freeholder consents before works commence — unless we have expressly agreed to manage this on your behalf
- Make decisions and approvals promptly when required to keep the project on schedule
- Ensure any pets or vulnerable occupants are not in areas where work is taking place
6. Our Obligations
We commit to:
- Carrying out all works with reasonable skill and care, using quality materials appropriate to the specification
- Providing a project timeline before work commences and keeping you informed of any changes
- Maintaining appropriate public liability insurance throughout the project
- Leaving the working area in a clean and safe condition at the end of each working day
- Complying with all relevant health and safety regulations and building standards
- Raising any concerns about the feasibility or safety of the specified works promptly
7. Warranty & Defects
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on all works we carry out. This covers defects arising from poor workmanship or materials supplied by us. The warranty does not cover:
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or failure to maintain the works
- Fair wear and tear
- Damage caused by third parties or subsequent works carried out by others
- Materials or components supplied by you or specified against our advice
Manufacturer warranties on products and materials (such as kitchen units, boilers, or tiles) are separate and governed by the respective manufacturer's terms. We will pass on any applicable manufacturer warranties to you on completion.
To make a warranty claim, please contact us in writing within the 12-month period at renovabuildsservices@gmail.com. We will inspect the defect within a reasonable timeframe and carry out remedial works at no additional cost where the defect falls within the warranty scope.
8. Limitation of Liability
Our total liability to you in connection with any project shall not exceed the total value of the contract for that project. We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses, including loss of income, loss of use, or loss of enjoyment
- Losses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)
- Pre-existing defects or conditions in the property that were not disclosed to us
- Losses arising from your failure to comply with your obligations under these terms
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Cancellation
You may cancel a project before work commences by giving us written notice. The following cancellation terms apply:
- Cancellation more than 14 days before the scheduled start date: deposit refunded less any costs already incurred (materials ordered, site surveys etc.)
- Cancellation within 14 days of the scheduled start date: deposit is non-refundable
- Cancellation after works have commenced: you are liable for the value of all works completed to date plus any materials purchased for the project
If you are a consumer (not a business), you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of signing the contract, during which you may cancel without penalty, unless work has commenced at your express request within that period.
We reserve the right to cancel or suspend a project if payment obligations are not met, if site conditions are unsafe, or if circumstances arise that make completion of the works impractical. In such cases, we will give you reasonable notice and invoice only for work completed to date.
10. Disputes
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us in the first instance at renovabuildsservices@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through direct negotiation, both parties agree to consider mediation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes that cannot be resolved by agreement or mediation shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
