Expert Flooring Installation
Flooring is the foundation of every room's character. We supply and install hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, vinyl, and tiled floors — including full sub-floor preparation, underlay, and all finishing trims.
Why Flooring Matters — And Why Installation Matters More
New flooring is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to any room. It changes how a space looks, how it feels underfoot, and how sound travels through the home. But the best materials in the world will underperform if the installation is wrong — boards that flex and creak, tiles that crack along grout lines, laminate that lifts at the edges. Proper sub-floor preparation and precise fitting technique make the difference between flooring that lasts a decade and flooring that fails in a year.
At Renova Builds, our fitters work across all floor types — wood, engineered, laminate, vinyl, and tile — and we approach every job with the same discipline: assess the sub-floor, prepare it correctly, acclimate the material, and install it with precision. We also handle all finishing trims, thresholds, and skirting reinstatement so you receive a fully finished room, not just a floor.
Flooring Types We Install
We work with every major flooring category across residential and light commercial properties:
- Solid hardwood: Traditional tongue-and-groove boards nailed or glued to a timber sub-floor. Unmatched warmth and character — and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifetime.
- Engineered wood: A real wood veneer over a stable plywood core, suitable for underfloor heating and areas where solid wood would move. A practical choice without sacrificing the look of natural timber.
- Laminate: A durable, cost-effective option that replicates the look of wood or stone. Modern laminate offers excellent wear resistance and is suitable for busy family rooms and hallways.
- Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) & Vinyl Plank: Fully waterproof and comfortable underfoot, LVT is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms. Available in realistic wood and stone finishes with genuine texture.
- Porcelain & ceramic tile: Hard-wearing, hygienic, and available in an enormous range of formats — from large-format slabs to mosaic sheets. We tile floors in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and extensions.
- Natural stone: Slate, travertine, limestone, and marble — fitted with the correct adhesives, grout, and sealant for longevity and appearance.
Sub-Floor Preparation — The Step Most People Skip
The most common cause of flooring failure is a poorly prepared sub-floor. Before any material goes down, we assess and address the following:
- Checking for and repairing any soft, squeaky, or damaged floorboards or chipboard panels
- Self-levelling compound to correct dips and humps in concrete sub-floors that would telegraph through the finished surface
- Damp-proof membrane installation where rising moisture is a risk — critical under solid hardwood and engineered floors
- Correct underlay specification — density and thickness matched to the floor type, sub-floor, and whether underfloor heating is present
- Acclimatisation of timber-based products in the room for the manufacturer-recommended period before fitting begins
Flooring and Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating (UFH) is increasingly popular in renovated homes, and flooring choice is critical when UFH is present. Not all flooring types are compatible, and those that are must be installed with specific techniques to allow heat transfer and prevent damage from thermal movement. We have experience fitting all UFH-compatible floor types and work alongside heating engineers to ensure the installation is correctly specified from the start.
Our Process
Every flooring project follows the same structured approach:
- Step 1 — Survey: We visit the property, measure the rooms, assess the sub-floor condition, and discuss your flooring preferences and budget. This visit is free and completely obligation-free.
- Step 2 — Proposal: We provide a clear, itemised quote covering materials (if supply and fit), labour, sub-floor preparation, and all finishing trims. Fixed price — no surprises.
- Step 3 — Preparation: We protect adjacent areas, carry out all necessary sub-floor repairs and levelling, and allow materials to acclimate where required.
- Step 4 — Installation: Boards, tiles, or vinyl are fitted using the correct method for the product and sub-floor — glue-down, float, nail-fix, or adhesive bed as appropriate.
- Step 5 — Finishing: We reinstall or replace skirting boards, fit all threshold strips and door bars, and leave the room clean and ready to furnish.
How Much Does Flooring Installation Cost?
Flooring costs vary based on the material chosen, room size, and the condition of the existing sub-floor. As a general guide in the Uxbridge area, laminate or LVT installation typically starts from £15–£25 per square metre for labour. Engineered wood and hardwood fitting is typically £20–£35 per square metre. Tiling, depending on format size and pattern, ranges from £25–£50 per square metre for labour. We provide detailed, itemised quotes for every project so you know exactly what each element costs.

“They laid engineered oak throughout the ground floor and the finish is absolutely flawless. The sub-floor was in a terrible state but they sorted it all out before laying a single board. Couldn't be happier with the result.”
