Garden & Exterior Services
Your home extends well beyond the front door. We handle fencing, decking, patio installation, driveway work, exterior painting, and garden landscaping — completing the full picture of a beautifully maintained property.
Kerb Appeal That Lasts
The exterior of your home is the first thing visitors see and the last thing you look at when you leave each morning. A well-maintained, well-designed outdoor space adds genuine value to your property — not just financially, but in the way you experience and enjoy your home every day. A tired garden, crumbling driveway, or rotting fence undermines everything you have invested inside.
At Renova Builds, we apply the same standards of planning, materials selection, and craftsmanship to exterior work as we do to any internal renovation. We source quality, durable materials suited to the British climate, prepare surfaces correctly, and build structures that remain solid and attractive season after season. No shortcuts, no compromise on finish.
Garden & Exterior Services We Provide
We cover all key areas of outdoor home improvement across residential properties in West London:
- Fencing & gates: Supply and installation of timber close-board, featherboard, panel, trellis, and composite fencing systems. New gate frames, gate posts, and ironmongery. Removal of old fencing and full ground preparation before installation begins.
- Decking: Design and construction of timber and composite decking areas — from simple ground-level platforms to raised multi-level decks with integrated steps, balustrades, and lighting. We use pressure-treated timber or low-maintenance composite boards depending on your preference and budget.
- Patio & paving: Installation of natural stone, porcelain, concrete, and block paving — with proper sub-base preparation, correct falls for drainage, and neat edge restraints throughout. Porcelain patio slabs in large formats are a particular specialism, requiring precise bedding techniques to avoid future movement.
- Driveway work: Block paving, resin-bound, tarmac, and gravel driveways — including excavation, sub-base laying, edging, and permeable surface options where planning requires. We also repair and re-point existing driveways where full replacement is not yet needed.
- Exterior painting: Full exterior repaint of masonry, render, timber cladding, fascias, soffits, gutters, and window frames — using appropriate exterior grade paints and primers with correct surface preparation for longevity.
- Garden landscaping: Lawn laying (turf or seed), raised planting beds, garden edging, sleeper retaining walls, gravel borders, and general tidying and shaping of outdoor spaces to bring order and structure to a neglected garden.
- Boundary walls: Brick and block retaining walls, garden dividing walls, and pier and panel boundary structures — built to the correct specification with appropriate footings.
- Outdoor structures: Garden room bases, pergola installation, outbuilding bases, and concrete pad laying for garden buildings and bike stores.
Choosing the Right Patio Material
The patio or paving material you choose affects the look, maintenance requirements, and longevity of your outdoor space significantly. Here is a brief guide to the most common options we install:
- Porcelain: The premium choice — extremely durable, frost-proof, low maintenance, and available in large formats that give a clean, contemporary look. Requires a rigid mortar bed and careful handling during installation.
- Natural stone (sandstone, slate, limestone): Warm, characterful, and unique — each piece is different. Requires sealing and periodic maintenance. Sandstone is the most popular and cost-effective option.
- Block paving: Versatile and repairable — individual blocks can be lifted and relaid if utilities need accessing. Works well for driveways and garden paths as well as patio areas.
- Concrete slabs: A practical, affordable choice for utility areas, garden paths, and areas that do not need to be a focal point.
Our Process
- Step 1 — Site visit & consultation: We visit the property, assess the outdoor space, discuss your requirements and aesthetic preferences, and check for any drainage, access, or underground utility considerations.
- Step 2 — Design & quote: We produce a detailed proposal with material specifications, quantities, and a fixed price. For larger projects we can also provide a simple layout drawing to confirm the design before work begins.
- Step 3 — Preparation: Existing surfaces are removed and disposed of, the ground is excavated to the correct depth, and the sub-base is compacted and prepared properly before any surface material is laid.
- Step 4 — Installation: Surface materials are laid to the specified design with correct drainage falls, neat joints, and solid edge restraints.
- Step 5 — Finishing & clean-up: Joints are pointed or brushed with kiln-dried sand, surfaces are cleaned down, and the site is left tidy and ready to use.
How Much Do Garden & Exterior Projects Cost?
Exterior project costs depend on the size of the area, the material chosen, and the complexity of the groundworks required. As a guide in the Uxbridge area: a standard 20–30 sqm porcelain patio typically costs £2,500–£5,000 installed; timber close-board fencing runs approximately £80–£120 per linear metre supplied and fitted; a composite deck of 20 sqm starts from around £3,000–£5,000; and a block paved driveway for a standard single-car frontage typically starts from £2,500–£4,500. We provide itemised, fixed-price quotes for all exterior projects.
